Hi I'm Clare and I'm a Birmingham based dressmaker and business owner. Since I was a little girl I've always had a love for sewing. My Mom taught my sisters and I how to sew by making pillowcases for our beds when we were young. During my school days, I completed needlecraft as part of my GCSE's and excelled in it. From there, I moved to my local college and completed a two-year City and Guilds Course in Clothing Technology.
I have never lost my desire to make clothes over the years and many friends and family would encourage me to start sewing for others as my workmanship and work ethic would make my business successful. I've been commissioned to sew for individuals and for organisations. It's always so nice to have repeat customers and new ones through recommendations.
I have always done other jobs from production worker to educator and instructor; despite this, sewing has always been in my life in some form or another.
One of the biggest challenges when running a business is getting others to trust and believe in you to create something for them that they will love. However, in life we will always come across obstacles - its all about not being disheartened and taking every set back as a learning curve. I am extremely passionate about Keturah Designs and each day is a new opportunity to create something great.
Each garment I produce teaches me something new and there's nothing more satisfying than seeing the smile of a satisfied customer.
I look forward to you all joining me on my journey.
